Following a scrutiny meeting in June it has become clear that the redevelopment of the Old Police Station site on Victoria Street is already overspent against it's original budget by £10m (+15%).

The administration has confirmed that there will be 33 small units dedicated to social housing, however the cost of the units will be much higher than similar social housing in the District.
We believe funds should be diverted elsewhere into other areas of St Albans where the funds could be distributed more evenly and ultimately increase the number of available social residencies.
