The new design for the CCOS site (old city centre police station site) has been chosen and approved by Cabinet with the guidance of the public.
Three designs were submitted from different architecture firms, with design 2 from “Space and Place” architect firm being the clear favourite with 57% of 487 public votes; the design will now be submitted for planning permission.
Due to the late submission of planning, there will be a two month break in August, as ground works have already started on the project.
The budget originally agreed by council was £61m, however the new design has seen a rise in costs to £66m, this is currently being assessed. The mix of social and affordable housing is still to be confirmed.
We will be keeping an eye on this project going forward and keeping you updated.
