Herts county councillor for Harpenden rural, Annie Brewster, is campaigning to make the A5183 safer for cyclists post COVID-19.
Annie said: “The road was part of the A5 until the 1970s. It has been an accident black spot for many years due to it being historically very wide – effectively three lanes – where concentration is lost by motorists both in speed and control. As recently as last October two motorists were killed in a head on collision.”
The Department of Transport’s £250m Emergency Active Travel Fund is the first stage of a £2bn investment, for cycling and buses announced in February.
